Is the Daughter of the Pirate King smutty? ›

However it does not describe anything graphically.) It does mention rape, nudity, and prostitutes, but does not describe these things in detail. There is kissing, flirting, and some seduction in this book, but that is as far as the sexual content goes.

The novel makes clear that seduction magic only works on straight men; the novel's one gay male character is immune. Alosa then mentions that she needs men in her crew who respond to her magic for tracking purposes.

I like how this story has a happy ending, the pirate king is dead, Alosa has a chance to connect with her mother and fellow sirens. But she also has the chance to take over as pirate queen and rebuild her fathers empire and probably run it better! Her and Riden also get to be together.

Note that Alosa's story is complete in the original Daughter of the Pirate King duology. There won't be anymore books with her as the main character. Sorinda's story is complete with the standalone, Vengeance of the Pirate Queen. I would love to return to tell Niridia's and Mandsy's story someday.
